Together with his brother Kenneth Gärdestad, who wrote the lyrics to most of his songs, he created several timeless classics. In 1979, he represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Satellite". He also appeared in a number of Swedish television productions and a few films as an actor.
